Inside Higher Ed, 3/11/11

Opinion piece by John Ebersole, president of Excelsior College, who will testify in front of a House committee on 3/11/11. Ebersole argues that the administration is working at cross puposes regarding the "completion agenda." While President Obama continues to advocate increasing the number of college graduates, the Department of Education is busy placing regulatory obstacles in the way of schools that could help them achieve this goal. In addition, the administration helps schools that serve traditional students while ignoring or attacking schools that serve working adults when "nearly 70 percent of American workers do not have a degree, but some 50 million have 'some college.'"
